VHS-88 privacy policy
The app collects nothing.
Effective: 3 October 2026
This policy covers the VHS-88 Android app. The short version: VHS-88 does not collect, store or share any of your data. Everything you film stays on your phone. The app has no internet access, no accounts, no ads and no analytics.
Who we are
VHS-88 is made by Impossible Labs, Amsterdam, the Netherlands (KVK 95962921). In this policy, "we" means Impossible Labs.
What the app accesses, and why
- Camera — to show the live picture and record video through the tape filter.
- Microphone — to record sound with your video. You can turn recording sound off in the Setup menu.
- Videos you choose — when you use Tape In to dub an existing clip. Android's photo picker only gives the app the clips you select.
- Storage — to save finished videos to
Movies/VHS-88on your phone. On Android 9 and older the app asks for storage permission to do this.
All processing happens on your device. Your videos, audio and settings never leave it.
What we collect
Nothing. The app does not request internet permission, so it cannot send anything to us or to anyone else. We run no servers for it and cannot see what you record.
We use no advertising, analytics, crash reporting or tracking services, and we do not sell or share personal data.
Debug reports
The Setup menu can save a plain-text debug report with technical details about your phone model and camera, to help fix picture problems. It is saved to your phone's Downloads folder and is only sent anywhere if you choose to share it yourself, for example by email. If you send one to us, we use it only to fix the problem and delete it afterwards.
Purchases
VHS-88 is free to download. The optional unlock is a one-time in-app purchase through Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Google; we never see your payment details, and the app only asks Google Play whether your account owns the unlock. Google's own privacy policy applies to your purchase: policies.google.com/privacy.
Free trial
To know when the 7-day trial ends, the app stores the date you first opened it in its own settings on your phone. Android's backup may restore it if you reinstall. It is never sent to us.
Children
VHS-88 is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete. You can remove everything the app has created by deleting the Movies/VHS-88 and Download/VHS-88 folders and uninstalling the app. Your rights under the GDPR still apply, and you can contact us or the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) with any question.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. If the app ever starts handling your data differently, we will say so here before that version is released.
