What it does

Weight for any metal

Rectangular, square and round tube, flat, round and square bar, plate and sheet. Steel, stainless 304 and 316, aluminium, copper, brass, or any density you type. Metric and imperial, including fractional inches.

Agrees with your supplier

Tube weights include the rounded corners from the European tube standards (EN 10219 and EN 10210), so they match supplier tables. Beams, angles and channels use the kg per metre from your catalogue.

Cost, the way you buy

Price per kg, tonne, metre or piece, with waste for saw cuts and offcuts. Add labour, cutting, welding, painting per m², transport and bought-in parts.

Your profit, your way

Markup, margin, or simply the price you want. The app always shows both percentages, so you know which one you mean. Set a profit per part, give a discount, round the price.

Your own taxes

No rate is preset. Add VAT, GST and PST, sales tax or none, at the rates that apply where you work.

A quote you can send

A clean A4 PDF with your logo, or a message for WhatsApp or email. Rename lines, leave items out, add notes. Your costs and markup never appear on the customer's copy.

How the numbers are worked out

A quote is only useful if you can trust it. Metal Quote is built like accounting software, not like a phone calculator.

  • Exact decimal arithmetic, with no floating-point drift. Amounts are rounded to what the quote shows before they are used, so the lines always add up to the total.
  • Weights are tested against published weights from European steel tables.
  • Weights are nominal, like the ones in your supplier's tables. Real stock varies a little within the mill's tolerances.
  • Metal Quote works out weights, costs and prices. It does not do structural or load calculations.

Your data is yours

Your prices and your customers are your business. Everything you type into Metal Quote is stored only on your phone, in its own storage. There are no accounts and no servers: we never see your data and keep no copy. Metal Quote does not even ask for internet access, so it cannot send anything anywhere.

  • No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
  • Quotes, prices, customers, your workshop details and logo are stored only on your phone. The app shows you what it keeps and how much space it uses.
  • Because we hold no copy, a backup is what protects you from a lost phone: your data goes into your phone's own Android backup (one tickbox, on by default) and comes back on a new phone.
  • PDFs, messages and files go only where you send them.

Test it early

Metal Quote is in its first version, and we would like fabricators, welders and metalworkers to use it on real jobs before it goes public on Google Play. Email us the Google account (the Gmail address) you use on your Android phone, and we will send you an invitation to the test. Your feedback decides what comes next.

Support

A weight that does not match your supplier, a quote that looks wrong, a shape you need: email support@impossible-labs.io, or tap Send feedback at the bottom of the app's home screen. It adds the app version, so we can usually help without back-and-forth.
